The official purpose of National Recreation and Parks Month is to invite everyone to participate in outdoor leisure activities.  It is a time for you and your family to get outside and enjoy the sunshine by visiting our nation’s beautiful parks – community parks, state parks and national parks.

Designated in 1985 as National Recreation and Parks Month by the National Recreation and Park Association, the month of July is ideal for everyone to rediscover the fun of outdoor recreation – hiking, biking, swimming, exploring, discovering…
